Important lessons and our second first date.

by Elizabeth on February 15, 2013

Let’s begin this Friday with some important lessons to take into your weekend, shall we?

Lesson #1: If you feed your toddler chicken nuggets, always remember to remove the ketchup bottle from their reach. Noah now has his lycopene needs met for the next six years.

Lesson #2: Refrain from teaching him to say cheese and smile. Or else every time he sees a camera this is the face you get.

My romantic husband planned a special Valentine’s dinner for us! He recreated our first date six years ago when we saw the movie The Holiday (I couldn’t even remember the movie we saw… good job, Joe) and went to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner. He got take out and even remembered the exact dishes we ordered then. Four cheese pasta for him and grilled salmon for me.

We split dulce de leche cheesecake (omg? wow) that night but he went above and beyond yesterday. He even followed my recommendation to not buy flowers and put that money towards more of the good stuff ;-)

Chocolates, red velvet, cookie dough, and dulce de leche cheesecakes AND my very own COOKIE CAKE!!!! We ended the night by sitting on the couch in our pi’s and eating the entire cookie cake enjoying sweets in moderation. Ha. That thing won’t make it past lunch time today. I am going to tell you the same thing I told Joe last night? I can honestly say I have never been happier and I am so thankful for where God has led me in life. Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way :-) Just needing to show some love.

We have a few fun play dates scheduled for today and hopefully some family time this weekend! Happy Friday!!!

What has been your favorite season of life and why?

Ummm cookie cake. That’s a sign that you have a very good husband. That is the cutest first date ever!!! I’ve been hearing so many creative stories about husbands and I have to say, I’m a little jealous of all of this love being thrown around. I’m glad you had a great day!

How romantic! And that cookie cake looks AMAZING!
My favorite holiday is Halloween! Love to dress up and be silly. Also, my nieces and nephews are young enough to trick or treat, so that’s more candy for me!

Eee! Now I see what you mean about nursing the chocolate hangover ;) So totally worth it, though… everything looks amazing. That cookie cake? I’m dying… And even though I’m not the biggest fan of cheesecake, I have to say that all of those look SO good. Glad to hear that you both had a great night :) That was so sweet of Joe to recreate your first date – he definitely sounds like a keeper! :D

What a great Valentine’s Day! I babysit for a 2.5 year old..James….he is the love of my life. He does the SAME this as Noah. If he sees a camera or iphone he says “cheeeeeeeeeeese” in the highest pitch voice and scrunches his face up to the most exaggerated smile ever. Its hilariously amazing. If I try to take a video of him with my iphone, he can’t understand that he isn’t supposed to do the whole cheese & smile thing…so the first 5 seconds are always him smiling and then he proceeds to talk. I think the 2 of them would be best buds :)

That cheeeese is the cutest thing ever… Even cuter when I got to hear his sweet little voice! Thank you for our perfect play date! We loved meeting you and it doesn’t get better than a run and the park on such a beautiful day!

I love the huge smile picture! :) Too cute!
Glenn and I were just talking about seasons of life the other day! We were talking about how we could take our life and break it down into segments that just all felt like they were separate. Sometimes they feel like a different person was living those parts of my life, too. Like I just read the book about it, or something. Strange. I can’t even say (now that I’ve had kids and we’ve had them around long enough to enjoy seasons with them, too) what my favorite season has been. How thankful should I be for that? I remember 99% of them so fondly!

That looks like the best V-day ever!! So adorable that he remembered what you ordered. You’ve obviously trained him well if flowers were forgone in favor of sweets!

That cheese face is too much. We are also in the cheese face phase. If B sees a camera out of the corner of his eye it’s like some sort of reflex and his face just freezes that way.
