RACE DAY!!!

by Elizabeth on January 12, 2013

Our day is beginning at 5 am to be into downtown Houston by 6! Breakfast is a peanut butter, honey, and banana sandwich (aka best sandwich ever when chocolate chips are also added) with water and coffee. I know most people think coffee is bad for you since it’s a diuretic but I never drank coffee before I raced in college and the one time I did I PR’ed and qualified for Nationals. Coffee it is.

I don’t make sandwiches the night before because soggy sandwiches = no bueno. To fuel during the race I have these trusty Clif bars and some gel shots. I may be ODing on peanut butter this morning but don’t worry, it’s only temporary until this afternoon when I OD on cheeseburgers and milkshakes.

You knew I was going to wear these shoes (I will not be wearing these tights with holes in the seams. And honestly, I would throw them away but Noah really likes to stick his fingers in the holes. It’s not weird, I promise.)

And finally, I made our family matching shirts for my own moral support. They are thrilled to be wearing them because they are super masculine. I at least didn’t put pink and purple on theirs… You don’t have to tell me I am selfless because I already knew that.

If you see any spelling errors please don’t tell me because it’s too late anyway. I wound up with 3 extra R’s and can’t figure out why? Wish me luck! See you all at the finish line!

…yes, I agree with [email protected] runner the lettering on your shirts is incredible! Stay warm (would say dry, but I know that’s not going to happen!) and enjoy yourself!

How did your cousin do? It was cold, windy, and rainy so I’m sure they felt right at home! And YES I will train with you!!! Let me know where and when.

Good luck on your race! And I’m so totally in love with those shirts that you made. Between that and scrapbooking… you’re amazingly crafty (and I may or may not be slightly jealous ;) )

Amanda I believe that you are crafty yourself… you just haven’t found your outlet! I used to think I was the least crafty person ever (until I had nothing but time to do crafts.) I’m waiting for the day I read your blog and you have done something incredibly crafty! I’ll be nice though and I won’t say I told you so ;-)

New reader! Those sandwhiches would be even better with fluff added, too! :)

Good luck on your race! I love your shirts, btw. Splatter paint is always the quick and easy way to go. You can’t really go wrong and it looks like you put effort into it! haha!

Lauren!!! So happy to have you friend! I’m headed to read yours after this! I definitely agree it’s impossible to mess up splatter paint (my main reason for choosing it haha.) Do you mean marshmallow fluff?? I haven’t ever had it on a sandwich but that is a genius idea!

So happy to have you! Do it!!! It’s cool to have something homemade and you can save it forever after washing it of course :-) It was a good race! Tomorrow I plan on doing a race and food (best part) recap!

Good luck!! I broke in my parent’s treadmill today, and MAN, it’s nice to have an alternative to outdoor running on those inevitable rainy days.
