Weekend highlights: family, shoes, and yoga.

by Elizabeth on January 12, 2014

As I sat down to type this on Saturday night, I realized it was just that? Saturday! Joe being off Friday really threw us off in the best way. We organized closets, detailed the kitchen, pantry, and fridge, and took care of really fun adult-ish things like insurance and bills. I know you want to see all the pictures I took of that but instead I’m just going to shake it up a bit and show you my food, running, Noah, and belly pics. Oh wait?.

Friday night we celebrated my SIL’s 30th birthday! For selfish reasons I love her birthday (other than mine) the most because she chooses Cheesecake Factory as her birthday cake. I went back and forth between the 30th anniversary cheesecake and red velvet (knowing fully that half of Joe’s dulce de leche piece was mine) and finally decided on red velvet. Noah had a sliver of the 30th anniversary one which was chocolate and vanilla cheesecake, chocolate cake, and chocolate frosting so I did get to sneak a bite. Turns out I made a good choice for my own.

Saturday (that felt like Sunday) I went for an 8 mile run after finding my favorite shoes on sale for $49!!!! I bought 2 pair since that was as many as they had left in my size. Running in new shoes is like running on clouds to me. And yes, my feet are a giant size 10. I planned on doing body pump either Friday or Saturday but Joe suggested a family park excursion so body pump will resume this morning.

We ended up going to pick up my nephew and brought him along with us. The boys had such a blast. Please don’t judge the amount of cherry coke zero in my trunk. Or the fact that my two year old now eats double cheeseburgers. In all honesty, I do worry sometimes about feeding him stuff like McDonald’s and other fast food, but at the end of the day it’s just FOOD. I want him to have a normal relationship with food so I’m going to expose him to it. I honestly think that’s healthier than making sure he eats perfectly balanced every single day. And heck, it makes him so happy. How could that be unhealthy?

70 degrees in Houston, your cousin, and big rocks to jump off of. What more could one want in life?

Sunday we went to mass together and while Joe went over to his brother’s to watch the Broncos play (they used to live in CO) I decided to try yoga at the YMCA. It was challenging but not at all in a high intensity workout way that I’m used to. I love it.

I hope you had a great weekend! Please tell me about it!

Questions:

1. Cheesecake. Love it or hate it? What flavor?

2. Is the weather any better where you are?

3. What was the best part of your weekend?!

I just enjoyed being home this weekend (we were on vacation for almost a month – totally not a bad thing haha). I baked, I cooked, and hung out with my daughter. I loved just being home!

I loooove the Brooks pure line :) I love some cheesecakes and others are so underwhelming. There are a few Cheesecake Factory flavors I’ve loved and the plain flavor from Stage Deli in NYC is the best plain flavored one I’ve ever had. I haven’t had cheesecake of any kind in 2 or more years though-I need to get on that!

Cheesecake Factory red velvet cake is my favorite thing on this planet. That is not an exaggeration.

Believe it or not I don’t like cheese cake. Everyone says I am crazy but it just isn’t my thing. I am a fan of everything in moderation whether it is McDonalds, Cherry coke or in my case mint chocolate chip ice cream. All foods fit.

HaHa; no the weather wasn’t any better where I live. We ran on Saturday morning in 40 degree temps and lots of rain!

I’m pretty boring when it comes to cheesecake and love it plain with whipped cream on top!

I had a really rough Saturday night, so my best friend brought over a slice of Cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory for the two of us and we sat on my couch at 1 am, ate our cheesecake, laughed, cried, and talked for hours. It was exactly what I needed — so I’m going to say that I love cheesecake :) That had to have been the best part of my weekend…or going to the beach and getting burnt :)

It’s a gorgeous sunny & 75 here in FL today.

I always love your photos of noah–he’s too cute and looks so happy!
that’s how i feel about food in general… it’s important to have a healthy relationship and not feel deprived (yet here I am feeling deprived as all heck on the paleo business…)

Now I totally need to figure out how to get myself some cheesecake factory cheesecake this weekend – that stuff is the bomb. I also understand your struggle with kids and food – and I am all about moderation. McDonald’s is a perfectly fine lunch – as long as it isn’t my lunch everyday, ya know?

I absolutely love cheesecake!! I could eat it every day if I could! My love for cheesecake fuels me to run as much as I do! Haha :)

I got my Brooks on sale for $69 a couple of months back because the color was discontinued! I was so happy, but now I am not sure I really like them. My feet KILL me halfway through every run or workout. Maybe they just dont fit well (possibly a little big), but it’s a little frustrating because I know everyone loves them!

Finding running shoes on sale is the best!!

The best part of my weekend was getting in my first brick workout of 2014!

I love cheesecake! Any flavor! :) I’m just north of Houston, and this weekend was SO awesome for weather! I wish it would stay like this. The best part of my weekend was getting a TON of stuff done around the house!

Sounds like a really great weekend! That shoe deal is great! I love the PureFlows as well and the updated version is really awesome! I am super jealous of your weather, today is a high of 28 degrees. However, I was spoiled with 80 degrees this weekend in Florida!
