Hello from Durango!!!

by Elizabeth on December 30, 2013

Good morning! I can’t believe this is the last Monday in 2013! I can honestly say this has been one of the best years of my life and I can’t wait to see what 2014 has in store. Anyway, I’m hoping to do a recap tomorrow but since we are on the road and I’m blogging from my phone I will see how it goes.
We planned this last minute road trip to first meet some of Joe’s extended family in Albuquerque (where we surprised his Nana) and then drive to Durango so he could get in some skiing! Today we start the drive back to Houston with an overnight stop in ABQ and then another one in Lubbock to stay with my friends again.
Here’s what we’ve been up to this trip:
Lots of play time with cousins!

A very special first birthday for our cousin Henry!

Lunch in Durango.

Matching cousin PJ’s…

A COLD RUN! We don’t really see this kind of weather in Houston. I took my phone as a timer on an out and back (set to turn around in 25 minutes) and unfortunately it died on the run. I kept feeling like I had made it that far but I’m the kind of person who doesn’t want to look for fear it would say I’d only been gone 4 minutes. Bad choice on my part! I think I went about 8 or 9 miles and it took a long time to warm back up!

More fun with Charlie and Henry while Joe and his cousins skied.

What’s this white stuff???

Durango is sooo pretty! I loved it. There’s a Rocky Mountain chocolate co downtown that I completely raided ;) enjoy your trip!!

Ha I love the pic of Noah looking at the snow.. . it is currently -9 degrees here in MN this morning, so I would gladly take 21 degrees instead! Safe travels back. :)

I try to do the same thing with looking at my watch when I run! I hold out looking at it as long as possible and then it ends up being even farther than I thought it would be…but there are always those runs where you can’t even STOP looking at it and it draaaaaaags! Good job getting out there though!

Looks like you guys had a good trip! I have the hardest time running the cold, I am totally a treadmill girl during the winter because I live in Utah.

Those 3 boys together…so adorable!
I live in MN so while I’m “used to” the ridiculously cold winter weather, I still always choose the indoor track or treadmill for runs – otherwise I lose the feeling in my toes and fingers!
