Christmas, potty training, and a bad haircut.

by Elizabeth on December 18, 2013

One week until Christmas! I hope you’ve been able to relax, shop, bake, and enjoy the season thus far.
After our gender reveal party on Saturday, we celebrated Christmas with Joe’s parents and siblings. That evening we went over to my SIL house for dinner, stories, carols, homemade egg nog, hot chocolate and lots of yummy desserts!
We got the kiddos matching Christmas pj’s because hey, why not?

My niece and nephew, Connor and Claire! I’m excited for next year when we have two more little babies join the family!

5 kids all looking… Not gonna happen.

Usually my SILs and I do a baking day one weekend before we celebrate but somehow things got crazy this year so we all brought whatever we made beforehand. We still had quite the spread!

It was a pretty full day so we headed home around 11 and returned the following morning for breakfast and gifts. Caramel rolls the size of the plate:

Christmas is way more fun when you have kids in the picture!

We also scheduled a big (all 15 of us) family picture to be taken that afternoon and it went incredibly well! We were done in less than an hour and headed back for dinner!

If I was hosting we would have been using plastic silverware and paper plates so thank goodness Sarah is much classier than I am…

After dinner, chatting, and dishes I called it a night and headed home! This week:

Gotta love potty training!
And the last random picture because I know you’re sad this post barely had any…

I cried a significant amount after seeing this (crazy hormones and potty training frustration!) I sent the boys to bathe while I cleaned the kitchen and this is what I came back too. Apparently the settings were off on the razor and Joe accidentally buzzed Noah’s head. It only took us four months to grow it out from the last disastrous haircut and we are back at square one. Oh well, it’s only hair!

Please give me potty training tips!!!
What are your Christmas plans?
Ever had a bad haircut?

This three day potty training is the way to go! I used it with my son and have not looked back at diapers! You have to stick with it though and the first two days are very frustrating! I did it when my husband was out of town thinking it would be easier but it was frustrating. My advice is to plan meals ahead also. We had the most accidents when I was trying to make the kids something to eat. My daughter was a huge help. Don’t give up and sick to it. The third day it seemed to just click. On day two I felt hopeless and thought it was not working and then the next day, boom! Good luck!

YES! Meal times are a disaster. I’m always thinking we will go right after but it’s always too late. Thanks for sharing with me! We’re on day three so I’m thinking it’ll take a while longer but that’s ok :-)

Seeing the picture with all of the cousins makes me smile! I have cousins who are very close in age and now that we are grown we are even more close! Cousins are the best! For Christmas we are going home (both are parents live in the same town!) I am very excited that it is only a week away! I have had a bad haircut, but that happens to my husband sometimes, if he does not check the blade or the setting of his shears he can get a really close buzz! :)

This!! This is the best advice ever. Seriously let him run around in real underwear for a few days and just stay at the house. Kids hate the feeling of wet underwear. He will learn the association between what happens when he feels the urge and what his body does.

Today he’s finally making the association that he ALREADY went lol. So that’s progress right? Thanks for sharing! We are gonna stick with it!

I think Noah looks adorable! And can I borrow your family? Mine all live overseas so I never get to see them? I’d love to have big family get togethers tho!

Oh I hate getting my hair cut! However, I trust the lady that does my hair so I dont really need to worry too much! My hair just grows slowly. Boo! My Nana is coming into town for the week of Christmas. I haven’t seen her in like 8 years so there will be alot of catching up! We are having a party on the 23rd with friends and family too! Should be good time. Happy Holidays!
