17 Weeks: Finding out!!!

by Elizabeth on December 17, 2013

Hello, hello! How are you? I hope your week is off to a great start. Thank you so much for all of your sweet comments yesterday! I enjoyed reading each and every one!

Life has been a whirlwind since Friday morning? I didn’t mention anything when I posted that day but we had quite the scare which lead to me finding out that our baby is a GIRL (!!!) a day early. When I woke up Friday morning I was bleeding. Not a ton but enough to make me feel uncomfortable. As soon as the doctor opened at 8:30 I made an appointment. When I went in we did an ultra sound and the tech told me right away everything looked perfect with the baby and that SHE was actually measuring big! She?! Needless to say, I was so relieved I didn’t even care that the tech had let the gender slip and I wouldn’t be surprised at the party Saturday. I waited a little while longer for the doctor to rule out incompetent cervix and placenta previa which she did. I was sent home with a clean bill of health and didn’t tell anyone my secret.

The rest of Friday was spent at a doctor appointment with Noah, baking for the party, and prepping for Joe’s dad’s birthday, my mom’s birthday, and the Sauvageau family Christmas on Sunday. Talk about a lot going on!

Saturday rolled around and we had friends and family over for the reveal! P.S. No idea why some pics are big and some are small. Just go with it.

Thank you mom for my pink and blue party appropriate skirt. If anyone needs to borrow it for a gender reveal coming up let me know :-)

Of course lots of sweets were consumed!

The live band “Noah and Elmo” was a huge hit.

The way the reveal was going to work was for everyone to choose a cake ball based on what they predicted the gender to be. If you thought boy, you chose blue and vise versa. If you chose the right gender your cake ball would be the same color on the inside as it was on the outside. The wrong gender had plain white cake inside. We counted to three and all bit into them at the same time!

The pink ones were PINK inside!!! The blue ones were white of course. You’ll probably never read this again on my blog? Joe was right and I was wrong. Even Noah has been saying he’s having a sister this whole time.

I think (know) we were both secretly thrilled they were pink :-)

We can’t wait to meet her!!!! <—— Understatement of 2013.

Questions:

1. Have you ever been to a gender reveal party?

2. If you could choose- how many kids would you have, what genders would they be and in what order?

Personally I want 4 (maybe 5) kids. When I was in junior high I wanted 7. I always wanted a boy first to be the big brother and then I wanted at least one girl thrown in there! I have both now (as long as three ultra sound techs aren’t wrong) so we are home free ;-)

Well, that’s not exactly the best way to find out, but glad everything turned out OK! Cute way to reveal the gender, too!

Aww I am sorry you had that scare but so glad everything was fine! I love the gender reveal. That’s such a fun way!
I want 3 kids. I’m nervous I won’t have a girl (my husband is 1 of 5 boys) so I would be relieved with a girl first, but I would prefer 2 boys then a girl.

Glad everything is okay- how scary! Very creative way to have guests find out. It’s crazy how these gender reveal parties have gotten so popular lately. Growing up I always wanted 4 kids, then I didn’t want any when I was dating my ex for 8 years (guess this should’ve been a sign, haha), and now my husband and I are thinking 2-3. We want to be able to travel, send them to good colleges, etc. so 3 would definitely be our tops! Sometimes I feel so old & impatient in the blogging community being almost 28 and not having a baby yet, but none of my close friends have any yet.

It can seriously get intense! We tried to keep it pretty low key. And actually a lot of the moms I know are much older than 28 so you have plenty of time! My dietician is 36 and just had her first and they want more :-) Non orries!

Of course you would use cake balls at your gender reveal party — so perfect :) And I’m glad to hear that everything is okay with your little girl. Kids? I think 3. Boy, girl, and the last one can come out as whatever it wants

My husband and I have talked about 3 or 4 kids. I have all girls in my family (2 sisters, and all girl cousins except for one boy cousin), so girls are really all I know. Needless to say, I want girls, but I’m sure I’d be thrilled to have a boy too!

Congrats on a baby girl! I have been to gender reveal parties and I think it’s super cute idea!

I want a boy and a girl- boy first to be big protective brother over his little sister!

I am so glad everything is okay! That would be so scary! I love your idea of the reveal, that would be such a fun way to share the news! I have never been to a gender reveal party but I can’t wait to throw one when we are pregnant! I would love 2 boys and 2 girls and maybe an adoption!

Awww I LOVE IT! And I”m so glad to hear everything is a-okay with baby girl! I love the idea of a gender reveal party. We didn’t do one with Hunter because all of our family was in Arizona, but if we ever live near them, I would love to do one for our future babies!

We didn’t have one for Noah either! It was definitely a fun way to share though, I recommend it! Plus one more excuse to make cake balls…

Congrats, again! I’ve never been to a gender reveal party… I think they’re a more recent thing, and since I’m going to my sons’ friends’ weddings these days, I have to wait for the next generation of babies to come along to start attending gender reveal parties! :-)

Since I didn’t have a sister, I always wanted a girl, but it didn’t happen. Now I just have to wait until August 2 when I’m getting the world’s sweetest daughter-in-law! :-)

Sorry you had a scare, but glad everything is okay! So exciting! I notice you picked up a blue cake ball at the party even though you already knew it was a girl.. did you not tell the guests you already knew? We had our ultrasound this morning!! Eeek! It was so wonderful to get to see everything and get to see the little face! But of course our gender reveal party isn’t until Friday. It was so hard to walk away with just an envelope, especially for my husband.. he didn’t want to look away when she checked for the gender! We are both guessing girl, so we’ll see! :)

I’m so glad everything is fine! Bleeding can be very scary! When I was pregnant I want a boy SOO badly! I KNEW he was a boy. Every once in a while I’ll see cute girly things and think “awwww…” but all in all I’m so thrilled to have a boy! I figure if I get pregnant again it will be awesome regardless because I already have my boy!
