My best friend’s wedding!

by Elizabeth on October 22, 2013

Oh hey! I remember you :-) I decided to take the week off from blogging last week as I mentioned yesterday and I am happy to be back! We made it back from North Carolina yesterday afternoon and spent the night hanging out with our main squeeze. It was quite obvious he had a blast with his grandparents this weekend.

Random good things I feel like showing you:

These were so good! Little fried balls of potato goodness. I had them almost everyday for lunch last week.

Apparently the people at Chick Fil A frown upon you bringing back the same cup for a lemonade refill four days in a row (yes I am that cheap and yes that is a true story) so I broke down and bought a gallon. For what I paid I’m pretty sure there must be gold at the bottom.

I had also been craving cheesecake (Cheesecake Factory specifically) but I found this for $3 and ’tis the season.

On to bigger and better things! My best friend from high school got married this weekend so we flew to South Carolina to join in the festivities! She asked me where we should go to dinner after their rehearsal and my suggestion was Olive Garden. Cheese ravioli has been my go-to food almost every night (besides fried chicken) for a while now but I decided to get crazy and try the 5 cheese ziti here instead. BIG MISTAKE. I sent it back and they brought out a giant plate of cheese ravioli. I don’t think I took one food picture this weekend…

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Noah was missing us like crazy as you can see.

Saturday morning Nicole came and picked me up to go to her hair appointment. Aside from her looking gorgeous, all I can say is people in South Carolina have THICK accents. And it’s awesome.

A few wedding shots of the happy couple…

I was the cake cutter and the photographer (these pictures are from Joe’s phone though) so I hope I lived up to her expectations! Nicole, if you’re missing the top layer of your cake, I didn’t take it… I swear!

After the wedding was over Joe and I had planned to drive to North Carolina for a romantic weekend in the mountains! Since this is getting lengthy already I will save that for tomorrow but I will show you what happened on the way to our hotel! We stopped at O’ Charley’s to watch A&M get beat (let’s not talk about it) and since we’d already had dinner I ordered this. Best. Pie. Ever. That is all.

Happy Tuesday!

Questions:

1. Mountains or ocean for vacation?

2. What season did you/would you like to get married in?

3. Best dessert you’ve had this week?

For now I would definitely say ocean… but it’s a toss up! I could do both for sure.

I just got married in fall and it was PERFECT!

CHocolate chip cookies are the best :)

Glad you had such a good week with a little getaway too! We missed you!

Mountains, cause I love to hike and snowboard!

I think either fall or spring would be the ideal time for a wedding. It would be nice to have one outdoors.

Ocean.

Early Spring/Fall

I had some yummy ice cream at Ben and Jerry’s on Sunday.

I went to undergrad in SC and I just got so used to their accents that I stopped noticing them..and started emulating them without realizing! Sometimes my faux drawl still comes out ;)

Ocean vacation for me all the way. I love the heat and sunshine. I think I would want to get married in the late spring or early fall. Somewhere outdoors with lots of flowers :)

I live in the mountains, so ocean for sure. I always feel SO at peace near water!!!

I am not married yet, but will likely go for summer/ late summer-early fall.

This dessert was a doozy… a coconut macaroon topped with chocolate mousse, all drenched in dark chocolate. I actually ate half at a time on different nights because it was so rich (and I almost NEVER do that! haha).

I’ve also been a big fan of popcorn balls and candy corn these days. nom nom nom! xx

I had a scone last night and it was pretty good but I’m still willing to let another dessert take it’s place as best dessert of the week. We’ll see what comes up :)
Glad you had fun!!

I am definitely an ocean girl! Give me a beach and I am one happy little clam :D I think Fall would be the best season to get married because of the weather/changing leaves. I would love an outdoor wedding and summer gets too hot, so I think Autumn would be perfect!
Best dessert I had this week: Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookie fresh from the oven :D

I love the mountains for vacation because I love hiking. And I’d want to get married in the fall when it’s not too hot/cold and the colors and changing into all the warm tones :)

That looks like fun and I can totally tell how much Noah missed you! ;)

I’m all about oceans for vacations, but wouldn’t frown upon visiting the mountains and getting some hiking done.

We got legally married in winter (it snowed that day too) and then had our family reception in July so we got to experience two seasons with our wedding! LOL

Pretty wedding!! We got married in June, so the weather was just right :) Although, if we could have had a beautiful snowy, mountainous destination wedding that would have also been ideal ;)

I’m so glad ya’ll had a great time at the wedding! And sorry about the A&M loss– Georgia lost this weekend, too, so I feel your pain. There’s always next season, right?

Congrats to Nicole and her husband!! I have an aunt from S. Carolina and her accent is so adorable.
And that cake looks amazing! The best dessert I’ve had recently was walnut ice cream with a phyllo crisp and honey from this awesome Greek/Turkish restaurant.

I got married in August. All my exciting life events seem to happen is August so it worked well for us. I do really like fall weddings, though. Ooo or winter. Lots of pretty stuff you can do. I’ve never been to either Carolina before. One day.

Elizabeth, normally I love your blog, especially the fact that you include your faith. I was shocked to read that you steal from restaurants. I hope that you reconsider your actions, and especially the example that you are setting for your son.
