Pulling it back in to some moderation.

by Elizabeth on October 11, 2013

I’m super excited it’s Friday! We are headed to my parents’ this weekend to celebrate one of my lifelong friend’s engagement earlier this week :-)

Yesterday was crazy. Trying to get visas for our Brazil trip proved to be trickier than I planned for. People were yelled at, tears were shed, and luckily Sprinkles was right around the corner to ease the pain. I went with the seasonal caramel apple (eh) and the vanilla milk chocolate (yum!)

The afternoon was much more low key with just a walk around the lake with a friend. This was my conversation with Joe on Wednesday night…

I should have added pizza in there. For some reason my motivation to cook has been zero and my desire for fried chicken is at an all time high so I’m actually embarrassed to tell you how many nights we ordered take out. I guess some weeks are just like that!

I did attempt to pull it back in to some moderation last night and made a big stir fry (old picture, this one had chicken sausage in it). Along with honey and bacon brussels sprouts which were amazing! The idea came from pinterest? they recommended parmesan and honey which I did try and was also wonderful!

And just because I love this kid and he is getting so big? The top picture was taken exactly a year ago and the bottom one was taken yesterday. Crazy how things change!

What are your plans this weekend?

Do you ever have weeks where you eat out most nights?

What’s your favorite way to make brussels sprouts?

I have been eating out a lot this week too because I’ve been too busy to go to the grocery store. That stir fry looks so yummy, what else is in it!?!

Dang. You just keep feeding that kid, and he just keeps growing! Craziness.

I rarely eat out during the week (I’m usually on campus until past 8pm), but I do start eating tons of frozen meals when things get busy.

I love brussels sprouts, they are one of my favorite Fall foods. I can’t wait to eat some this weekend for Thanksgiving Dinner up in Canada!
I don’t eat out a lot, but I do rely on lots of super fast foods to make, since I don’t like to spend a lot of time in the kitchen.

Noah has grown up so much in a year! Wow! My mom and I have a week where my dad works second shift we deem, “Wegman’s Week”. The entire week is full of foods from Wegmans, Chipotle, Panera, etc. It’s pretty awesome, actually!
I LOVE roasted brussel sprouts in the oven. There’s something about roasted veggies which make them twice as good!

Have you ever been to Brazil? I just went in February (my sister lives there) and loved it!

I love the photo comparison! We very rarely eat out because we are on a super budget and in super debt repayment mode. We will be 100% debt free in about 2-3 weeks. I am wondering if we will go back to eating out more often once we have our money freed up. We will see! Stir fry is a common meal in our home.

No. I rarely eat out. Firstly, it’s expensive. Secondly, the closest restaurant is at least 15-20 miles away, so we’d have to drive quite a bit……

I only ever roast brussel sprouts w/olive oil, Ms. Dash, garlic and pepper. YUM.

Soft tacos and tater tots have been our “go to” for takeout lately. Between my tacos and your fried chicken, we make quite the pair! :) I like to steam mine in the microwave and cover them with butter and salt. I’ll have to try your ways next!

…that last sentence was referring to brussel sprouts. NOT menu items from takout, ha. That would be gross.

Last month we went on a streak of eating out way too much – we had to reel it in. We’ve gone on a great streak of eating at home though and that feels good, especially for our bank account ;)

Love that picture of Noah on the same bench. You should try to take one at that same spot every year!
