A monumental day for me.

by Elizabeth on October 9, 2013

Happy Wednesday! Yesterday was a pretty big day for me. I attended my last group at the place I’d been going to since I came home from ERC two years ago. It’s kind of ironic looking back. When I got there, my plan was to just “jump through the hoops” until I had Noah in November and then get as far away from therapy as I possibly could once he was born. You can see how well my plan worked ;-)

In all seriousness, once I was a mom something shifted and I realized how now, more than ever, I needed to be at my best because my family and especially my baby deserved that. So every Tuesday and Thursday for two years I made sure I had childcare arranged, I packed up our things (not an easy task while breastfeeding that first year), and drove the 40 miles one way so that I could be a part of something I hoped would help change my life. And it did. In so many more ways than I’m going to get into this morning. All I can say is that it brings tears to my eyes to think about how blessed I am to have had this opportunity. And I’m more of my true self now.

My therapist told me yesterday that in the 18 years she’s done this, I have the most loving heart of anyone she’s ever worked with. That might have been the best compliment I’ve ever received :-) If anyone out there is struggling and thinking about getting more support, I can’t recommend doing it highly enough. Feel free to email me with questions!

It really is crazy how much things can change over time.

On a less serious note and because I like to show you food related things, I found both of these at Trader Joe’s the other day and it seemed like the perfect fall combination after we loved their goat cheese ravioli so much the other night! I really liked it. The butternut squash gave it a sweeter taste that Joe didn’t like as much and overall, I think we both preferred the other one but it’s nice to switch it up on occasion!

Don’t buy these unless you just like eating an entire bag of something and having a really bad stomachache afterwards.

And also don’t buy hats because as you can see, bowls work just as well.

Have a great Wednesday!

I am soooooooooooooooooo proud of you!

Job well done, my dear.

I wished I had taken care of all my issues in my early 20′s. How different my life would be today. You have had a tough few years but realizing it and taking action early in life sets you up for such a successful life for many years ahead.

You have made your Aunt LALA so happy!!!!

I love you…..

Elizabeth, I am so proud of you for the devotion and effort you have devoted to this for the past two years, and what you have accomplished as a result. What your counselor said is so true. I have always known that. I am thrilled that you know it.

Congrats Elizabeth! I’ve taken a very long break from blogging and keeping up with everyone so this was quite a treat to read! I’m so happy you are doing so well and so proud of you!

I have to agree though, nurses and caring hearts come hand in hand (most of the time).

On a side note, I just moved to Florida and although I miss my family.. I’m dying without a Trader Joes. Pure. Jealousy!
