Family Fall Festival

by Elizabeth on October 7, 2013

So I’m going to do this a little backwards? Saturday’s recap today and Friday’s tomorrow since Friday’s fits perfectly with Treat Yourself Tuesday and was pretty much the most amazing day/date ever! Saturday was great too; there’s really nothing better than watching your child have a blast at something. Add in family, good food, fall festivities, and a cool front that blew through while we were there and it was a pretty perfect day.

This year was my family’s 5th Annual Fall Festival. Whoever thought of doing this is genius. It’s such a fun excuse for our family to get together in October. By the way, these pictures were not taken by me. My cousin, Sherry, takes pictures at all of our family events and does an INCREDIBLE job.

First, just a few scenic pics :-)

There were some contests…

I told Joe we need a huge pile of dirt in our backyard. It kept Noah busy for almost 30 minutes!

It wouldn’t be a fall festival without bobbing for apples.

We even hire professional family face painters. They do an awesome job ;-)

I should have done it this year because it was a blast when I did it last time…

Sno cones! Yes, it was hot at first. Noah wanted banana one? yuck haha. Later in the evening I was wishing there was a hot chocolate dispenser because it got chilly!

Questions:

1. What did you do this weekend?

2. How often do you see extended family? Do they live close by?

That’s an adorable family tradition!
I don’t see extended family much, at all. Maybe once every 1-3 years.

That looks like so much fun!!!! I can’t wait to take my kids everywhere this fall. We are going apple and pumpkin picking very soon! That front door is amazing. I can’t decide on what color I want to paint mine but that brown looks really good with the decorations! I may seem weird but I love front doors of houses lol.

What a fun day! I am so jealous that you have so much family nearby. My family is spread around the country/world and it’s so hard to get everyone together.

Looks like so much fun! I love your face painting – so cute. :) And that last pic – precious. I had a great night on Saturday hanging with my sister and going to see the musical Wicked.. . and then on Sunday, Scott joined me for a long run and it is always nice to have company on a long run!!

What a fun day! My husbands family all lives within 2 hours of us. We see them about once a month or so. My family is much farther away. I see them once a year or so, twice if I am lucky.

That looks like SO much fun!! I see my family typically on the holidays or birthdays, but some of them live pretty far away (Vegas and SC) and I see them maybe once a year (or less).

I love the fact your family gets together for a fall festival full of bean bag tosses and face painting! SO CUTE. The pumpkin makes me laugh! So unique. It’s definitely something I could see my brother doing to his pumpkin. Goofball :D

Okay that seriously looks like way too much fun and makes me wish my family lived closer so that we could pull stuff like this. As it is, they live all the way on the other side of the world (aka: Poland) so I only get to see them once in a while. I should look and see if there are any fall festivals in my area though….
