My favorite day of the month: Office Birthday Celebration.

by Elizabeth on August 23, 2013

This week literally flew by. I had a pretty serious posts planned but I think I’m going to save them for next week and do something a little more lighthearted today.

So I just want to share with you a few successes from this week. You probably don’t remember my New Year’s Resolutions post, but I’ve done several of them this week! For the first time today I am trying acupuncture, and I completed my volunteer training at the Pregnancy Help Center on Wednesday. I can’t wait to start in two weeks when Noah starts his school! While I haven’t done much yoga, I have started meditation (<—— SO not something I would have ever considered in the past) but it’s basically a form a prayer.

Switching over to yesterday, how cool is this train park? All of Noah’s dreams came true in just one place.

He was so excited to play there was no way I was going to get a good picture…

His cute little park date always gives me a sweet smile or two though!

I experimented with my first spaghetti squash on Wednesday night, and it was a huge success! We really liked the pesto parmesan combination from the night before, so I used those two things along with chicken, broccoli, and tomatoes for one incredible and healthy meal.

Joe is two for two on bringing me home desserts from the office birthday celebration. Last month was Sprinkles cupcakes, this month Dessert Gallery cake balls. You can’t go wrong with cookies and cream, Italian cream, and chocolate peanut butter! He’s a keeper ;-)

Questions:

1. Do you ever cook with spaghetti squash? Share your recipe please!

2. Does your office/spouse’s office do birthday celebrations?

3. What’s your favorite thing about this particular Friday???

Ah! Noah is so cute :)

Great job on starting meditation :) I’ve been thinking about doing yoga – maybe that can become part of my morning routine :)

Volunteering at the Pregnancy Help Center sounds like it is going to be a lot of fun :) Good luck!

I tried a spaghetti square recipe, but it did not taste as well as I thought it would. Maybe I should try the ingredients you listed!

My favorite thing about this Friday is the beautiful weather!

I’ve never tried spaghetti squash, but I LOVE real spaghetti…not sure if that is a bad thing or a good thing for my chances of loving spaghetti squash.

My office does birthday celebrations for everyone. We usually have a little brunch on each person’s birthday, and we try to bring in their favorite snacks. It’s a fun time.

Happy Friday!

I think it’s so cool you’re volunteering. Good for you. For spaghetti sqaush, i’ve always just used it in place of spaghetti noodles with spaghetti sauce. Nothing to adventurous there but it’s really yummy. Today we’re going to a remote cabin on a lake a few hours away for the weekend. Hopefully it’ll feel like a little vacation. Have a great weekend!

The fact that it’s friday is my favorite part! it’s been a long work week!

I love cooking with spaghetti squash but don’t do it as often as I’ d like. Usually I just make it with some chicken or salmon, easy and tasty!

After work today, I’m driving to L.A. to see the boyfriend — wahoo! And omg, that train park. I can think of a whole lot of kids who would just about explode being at a place like that. So dang cute.

Man, my husband never brings home treats from work! Oh well, it’s for the best. I eat plenty of treats without them being hand delivered to me.

I’ve never cooked with spaghetti squash before but I’d love to one of these days!
That train park looks like a blast for the kids. So cute.
My favorite thing about this Friday is being able to finish up some summer school work, relax, and be with my family. Have an awesome weekend!

My fave thing about this Friday is I only have to work 2 hours today! I went to the Pensylvania Dutch market and got a red velvet whoopie pie and half a blackberry pie. Success!

I don’t cook with spaghetti squash, but I keep saying that I want to. I really need to!

I was training one of my weight loss clients at the wellness center and I could hear the staff singing happy birthday to one of the nurses in the back. No biggie, right? Until they brought out two huge slices of cake for my client and me! Oh no!!!

Noah is a cutie and what a cool park!

Never tried spaghetti squash but probably would if someone made it for me.

My office has a list of birthdays in our dept and we usually gather for cake and ice cream.

My fave thing about this Friday is that I took the day off work for a long weekend. We went for a four mile hike on a new to us trail, out to lunch at a place we found on Yelp and then to an awesome bakery we also found on Yelp. Lots of fun and new today!

I have definitely considered meditating as a way of prayer! I used to be so good with my quiet time, but have slacked so badly lately. I really would like to meditate! Please let me (us) know how it goes!!

I wish I could play around a train park! Looks fun!
