Candy Bar Cookie Dough Dip

by Elizabeth on August 16, 2013

Since it’s Friday, I wanted to share a pretty delicious recipe I made the other day. I figured with it being the weekend, you may have parties or events to go to and so I give you: Candy Bar Cookie Dough Dip! It’s sure to be a hit :-)

The great thing about this recipe is that it is so versatile. You can pick your favorite candies and cater it to be exactly what your looking for!

For the cookie dough dip I followed this recipe. I chose Reeses, snickers, hershey’s cookies and cream, twix, and peanut M&M’s for my candy bars. And let’s be honest? I call it a dip but my dipping device is a spoon.

I hope you enjoy your weekend!!!

Question:

What are you doing this weekend? Anyone starting back to school next week?

Maybe I am dense, but I don’t understand what was insensitive about your post yesterday. Having been married nearly 3 years myself, I found the post to be really insightful and applicable to me personally. Am I missing something?

I have a friend going through a rough time in her marriage so it was insensitive of me to post it!

Oh! I apologize. I can see why you feel that way about your post. Thank you for your honesty. I really enjoy your blog.

I think most people who read your blog regularly know that you would never write anything intentionally insensitive. I’ll admit, I winced when I saw your post, but we all make mistakes, right? Don’t beat yourself up about it. You are a good person.

This weekend, I’m doing a 5K Pub Crawl run. I placed in my age group last year. Should be interesting!

Elizabeth,

Your post yesterday was beautiful. You were offering suggestions and helpful tips, not forcing people to take them. I do not think you should feel bad about it. Your blog is a place where you can be open and honest. People should realize that the post was about what works for you and they can take or leave the advice.

There was nothing in that post about how people you know are going through rough times and they should learn from you….If anything, you were inspired to write about a hard topic, and from what I saw, people reacted well. I absolutely loved it, and I was not offended at all.

Thank you for your honest posts. Please try not to think twice.

XO Lauren

I can totally understand where you are coming from and timing is everything. And I know we all can get wrapped up in our own lives and not really think about implications on others. It happens. Don’t stress about it! In other news, I love that dip. I am going to need to get a bigger spoon to eat it. ;) Happy Friday.

I’m sad you took it down! :( I came back in here to show my husband because I loved it so much. I didn’t find it insensitive at all.

Would you mind emailing it to me too! I really liked it also and wanted to share it :)
I love your blog and love reading it. Its especially refreshing to find another prolifer and strong Catholic. I am also Catholic and live in Seattle, which is very liberal. So, finding those with like morals is always nice!

Don’t beat yourself up–like the other commenters I thought you shared great tips, but I am also glad that you are sensitive about the timing. Maybe reporting it in a few months would be nice to repost it! And apologizing for things can be so hard but so freeing :)

You have nothing to apologize for – you shared something on your heart on your own blog :) You also acted very appropriately by taking the post down as soon as you thought that it was not appropriate timing-wise. :) You are an awesome person

I really liked your post yesterday. I even sent the link to my husband, because we do some of the things you mentioned, but not all of them.

I also cringed when I first saw the title of the post, in light of another dear blogger’s current situation, but the post itself was very helpful.

Maybe in a few months, you can repost, just as someone else already recommended.

Oh girl, I have mixed feelings about the post yesterday… At first, I kinda cringed when I saw the title, but after reading the post, I really enjoyed it and agreed with a lot you had to say. Like others have said, I think it’d be a great idea to re-post it down the road. You’re sweet to be so sensitive, and I think you dealt with it well. On the other hand, you can’t please everyone… Writing a blog comes with the risk that you may offend someone. Hugs!

Agreed completely! While at first read I did think of Janae, but I alos thought it was a great post. I also went to show it to my husband later to find that it had been removed. I think you handled the situation very well :). Don’t worry or stress about it. I got a 15 mile run in today and it felt great! It was a perfect day :)!

Your post yesterday definitely had some good insight(which I thoughtfully read, a few times), but I think it was smart to take it down. We all make mistakes- no big deal.

This weekend is going to be packed, long run tomorrow and studying followed by dinner with my fiance’s parents. Sunday is our day just the 2 of us, something we haven’t gotten to do in a really long time and really need it right now.

Have a great weekend!

Thanks for the awesome recipe Elizabeth!! I love anything that has the word “Cookie Dough” in it :)

Keep your head up! You are a great friend, person, mother, wife, daughter, blogger… if there is one thing I am learning in my disordered eating recovery, it is to not beat ourselves up. We have to love ourselves… none of us are perfect!! You are fantastic and I love reading your blog EVERY DAY!

I missed having a pic of Noah today!!! He is adorable :)

This weekend I have a 15 mile long run and then Sunday we’re taking my baby sister to college! Ah! Where does the time go?! I thought I was the one that was old enough to leave for college, not her ;)

Chin up my friend. You’re wonderful. Have a great Friday!

I don’t think it was insensitive. This is your blog, and your life. You’re allowed to post what’s going on with it. I think your friend probably recognizes that it wasn’t directed at her. But I think you’re incredible to be sensitive to it.

That recipe looks incredible! All my favorite things in one bowl!

When I first read this apology, I thought I had missed a post because I couldn?t remember seeing anything remotely insensitive. It took me a while to realize that you were referring about the post about your marriage (that I had actually commented on saying how much I liked it!).

I still feel like I must have missed something; I don?t see how a post celebrating your relationship could be hurtful to anyone! Like others above me have said, it is your blog. I say celebrate the wonderful aspects of your life on your blog? it?s what blogs are for!

Our family will be attending a wedding this weekend! It will be especially fun since my son will be getting married next summer or soon after. I will be taking copious notes on what the MOG does and how she acts! She’s a sweetie so she’ll be a great role model for me! :-)

I know why people would have thought it insensitive, but it is your blog. And I thought the timing was great. Following our mutual friend’s announcement, I think it is the perfect time to reflect, to consider your own marriage, to refocus on why it is working. I thought it good timing myself, and assumed it was inspired by her unfortunate situation – not in negative nor in your face response. I hope you will post it again, since you’ve taken it down, as it contains very valuable advice.

I also thoroughly enjoyed your post and want to encourage you that blogs arent just for people who know you well. Blogs are shared and repinned so many times that many people will read your blog that dont know you or your family and friends . And people need to hear the stuff that you wrote about. So when God gives you a message offer it back to Him, pray about timing, and then share it with the blog-world! I do hope there is a time that will be ok to repost your marriage tips because they were inspirational and practical and focused on Christ, all of which we could all use a little more of in our every day lives! :) Thanks for being honest, compassionate, and humble.
We are taking the boys to Splashway tomorrow which should be crazy and fun. And we’ve still got another week before school starts so still working on maintaining sanity around here.
Blessings.

You’re so thoughtful, but I did really enjoy the post yesterday. You had me going “oh, I love that!” to many things. I do understand why it could have been bad timing, but hopefully in time you can repost it again :). You’re such a sweetheart that I can’t see anyone being angry over it :)

Happy Friday!

I understand, however, I really enjoyed your post. I wanted to share it with my hubby too! If at all possible could you email? Also, don’t be so hard on yourself. I think it shows a lot that you took the time to recognize the timing and take it down for your friend’s sake. Have a great weekend. I love your blog!

That dip looks amazing!!!
This weekend I will probably hit the pool, I am still recovering from a torn calf muscle. I do not have much time during the week to head to the pool, so I save it for weekends.
Other than that I will be catching up on some sleep!
