Caramel Sea Salt Banana Bread and some really classy stories…

by Elizabeth on August 10, 2013

As promised, today I’m sharing the recipe I tried on Thursday night! It was a HUGE success and so simple. There are only 4 ingredients? can’t get easier than that!

Ingredients:

  • 4 ripe bananas (I started making it without thinking to take a picture? hence only three made it into the photo)
  • about 20 chopped up milky way caramels
  • caramel cake mix
  • sea salt for sprinkling on top

I first mashed the bananas into a puree and then mixed in the cake mix. I poured in 3/4 of the chocolate and saved the last 1/4 for the top. After pouring it into a greased pan, I sprinkled on a pinch of sea salt and the remaining candy. Bake at 350 for 42 minutes!

Best banana bread I have ever had :-)

Last night we tried a pad thai recipe for dinner I will also share with you soon. After dinner we went to a sno cone place down the street called Bahama Mama’s.

It was actually our second time coming but they only accept cash and we didn’t have any the first time. We scoured our house and found $3 in dimes, nickels and pennies to get this bad boy.

Joe wanted sour so we had tiger’s blood. I usually run to my desserts with a similar expression so I do know he is my child.

We came home and made a racetrack and hopscotch with tape on the tile. Between that and paying for dessert with pennies found in our couch cracks, I’m not sure which is classier.

Have a great Saturday!

Love Noah’s expression! And the racetrack is awesome – why did my parents never do that? ;)

When Noah is 25 and reminiscing about his fun childhood, taped racetracks on the family room floor will be what he remembers. We are always surprised that it’s the little things our sons remember the most fondly! Good job, mom! :-)

That bread sounds positively delectable! I am going to make some pronto!

We love doing stuff like that in our house! Maybe it’s not super classy, but it sure makes for a fun childhood! And I’m more into making my kids lives fun than being classy all the time.

Yes I did! I tend to just look through my pantry and throw things together. It doesn’t always turn out great though I won’t lie!

So that’s what Tiger’s Blood is! I’ve always wondered since I rarely get snow cones.

And that banana bread looks so good. I can’t believe it’s only 4 ingredients!

I may be missing the obvious here but do you just use the four ingredients shown or do you also add whatever ingredients the cake mix calls for on the side of the box?

Thanks – it looks AMAZING and I can’t wait to try it!

Just the cake mix! The bananas act as the binding ingredients! I could have made that more clear. It’s really just those four though.

Hi Elizabeth! I’ve been following your blog for a while (I’m also a former college runner so I really like hearing about other athletes’ lives). Just stopping by to tell you that your son is adorable (and he’s lucky to have such fun parents) and that the sno cones look delicious (where I’m from, we call them snoballs and put marshmallow on top :).

Sorry for the random comment, but I thought I’d say hi instead of being a semi-creeper follower :D
