Be prepared

for the cuteness of the pictures to follow!

This weekend was nonstop! Saturday morning we took Noah to get a haircut. I wait as long as I can stand it because it’s basically a traumatic event for him. This time, I brought Joe along too. One person to hold him, the other to hold his head still. He cries the whole time but he sure looks cute when it’s finished! If you follow on Instagram this is old news and I apologize. Noah needed his passport picture for our trip to Brazil in November…

We had a first birthday party to attend after that! This one was right up my alley? Kyleigh’s Sweet Shop :-)

Kids’ parties these days are seriously adorable. What did people do before Pinterest??

These two will be friends for life!

5 layers of moist cake with 5 layers of icing? you know where I parked myself!

ImageProxy mvc

Babies and their smash cakes. There are no words!

My mom sent me this gem? you better know I ate that whole thing myself. Happy 1st birthday to me! And apparently I was destined to wear oversized sweatshirts from an early age? Sorry Joe.

After the birthday festivities I headed to a baby shower!

And finally? Joe’s family birthday get together! A night of sand volleyball, pizza, and hanging out at the beach club!

Sunday was spent cleaning. Everything. I know you’re super sad I don’t have pictures. Next time, friends!

Questions:

1. How did your child do with haircuts?

2. If you were throwing your own first birthday party, what would the theme be (MANDATORY you answer this)?

3. Tell me the highlight of your Sunday!

-catching up with my sister, having a rest day, and enough leftovers to not have to cook top my list!

First of all, you look so much like your mom it’s crazy. You should probably rock that hairstyle though ;)
Second, if I threw my own party when I was one I would’ve definitely done some sort of Candy Land style birthday party.
Third, Noah is once again, adorable…. ALMOST, ALMOST, ALMOST makes me want to have kids in less than 5 years ;)

I would have parked myself in front of that rainbow layered cake as well! It looks so yummy!

My kids did okay with haircuts, but trimming their fingernails was a whole different matter! :-)

My first birthday party theme would be farm animals!

Your pictures are soo good! I’m really jealous because A) Kids parties these days are cooler than kids parties back in my day and B) kids parties these days are better than my parties now… womo

I honestly can’t handle the cuteness that is Noah – definitely a handsome little guy :) And can I please have your weekend? Or at least a little slice of cake from it? My weekend was pretty much lacking in everything but time, which I guess is kind of good since I had a lot of random stuff to catch up on. Oh, and a first birthday would totally be My Little Pony themed for me. I was obsessed with those guys when I was little…

Those photos are adorable, love all the party decorations too.

If I were throwing my OWN 1st birthday party right now….um. Hm.
Well I guess it would be a Lego ( I loved them as kids) theme or…. a running theme (everyone bring me a pair of my favorite running shoes and clothes so I can save money for vacations and fun races). HAHHA.

Oh my gosh that cake is BEAUTIFUL! I love those colors!

I used to love Mighty Mouse when I was a kid, so that would probably be the theme of my own first birthday.

Highlight of my Sunday – taking myself to a movie AND treating myself to popcorn and an icee while I was there.

I know that I was really into Minnie Mouse back in the day, so I bet I would have had a Minnie themed party. But seriously how did people do things without Pinterest!? Especially non-creative, boring people like me!
Um, that is the cutest passport picture ever!!!
Highlight of my Sunday was definitely my nap. Ahh. Felt so good.

Love that picture! So cute! My son (2) has an extremely hard time getting his haircut! I have to give him a sucker to help him hold still. I’m hoping he will get better as he gets older! :)

My kids used to hate getting their haircut so my husband learned to do it himself. The first few were awkward but then he started doing a pretty good job. We take the kids to the barber now and it was a smooth transition.

Those parties are adorable. Mine never look like that.

The colours in that cake…I want some right now!!!! I have NO idea what I would do for my first birthday, but for my baby girl’s coming up in November, I’m going to do a jungle theme because the origin of her name is actually Swahili!!

You look JUST like your mom! Wow! You’re both very pretty, so that is not a bad thing :)

If I were to plan my first birthday, I’d throw myself a Big Bird party. He was my favorite. Actually, that’s exactly what I DID have for my first birthday party. My parents were pretty festive with me!

Best part of my weekend was a great long run and spending time with my family eating birthday cake for my brother’s birthday. If I could plan my own party it would be candy themed with extra Skittles involved. My kids know I’m terrible at sharing my Skittles.

All 3 of my kids were scared with first haircuts, but they got over it quickly. Now I have a 14 year old who throws a fit when I make him get a haircut so I guess the regress when they get older! I just tell him it’s school’s fault ( dress code ) that he has to get it cut. I’m a great mom.

My kids didn’t mind haircuts, although my oldest cried at her first. I think I made too big of a deal about it and that freaked her out.
There are so many cool birthday ideas out there now…I kinda want to shrink my kids and do it over again with everything I have learned from pinterest!!!!! It depends on the gender but I LOVE all the rainbow theme stuff there is out there!
Best part of Sunday was just just resting and catching up from a crazy few day before.

She loves getting her hair washed so hopefully that’s a good sign! Speaking of cute pics… Can s have some cute pics with N on Thursday??

Your son is seriously the cutest thing! Did your husband have blonde hair growing up? My 1st birthday theme would be Care Bears. This was actually my theme ages 4-7, haha. 1980s Strawberry Shortcake would be a close second!

WOW! You DID have a busy weekend! 3 get-togethers in one day?! I applaud you. I love the “sweet shop” idea…cute, but not over the top. I mean, you have sweets at birthday parties to begin with, so just keep adding sweets. Right up my alley!! I have no idea what theme I’d do for my own first birthday… maybe one where I get to sit by the pool and be served all day? ;-)
