The wild and crazy night! No one tell Noah.

by Elizabeth on July 28, 2013

Since Friday was Joe’s birthday, I told him to decide exactly how he wanted to spend the afternoon and that’s what we would do! We hadn’t been to a movie together since before Noah was born (what, your toddler sits still for long periods of time? Lucky!) We dropped him off at the pool with his cousins and somehow before the picture they all ended up wearing random animal hats?

Regardless, these are my three favorite toddlers ever.

Joe and I saw Heat (HILARIOUS but don’t go if you are easily offended by foul language). We also had a groupon for a 5 course dinner at a restaurant called Fernandos. 5 courses for 2 people and only $37? I’ll try anything once if it’s that cheap…

Course 1: Steak empanadas.

Course 2: House salad with champagne vinaigrette. If you choose to no longer read my blog after seeing the terrible photo quality below I won’t be offended. I almost stopped reading it myself.

Some how course 3 went unphotographed. It was crawfish bisque but I think someone got confused along the way because the menu definitely said lobster bisque.

Course 4: Filet, asparagus, and fried potato heaven. That thing was awesome.

Course 5 (and technically 6 for me because Joe was too stuffed for dessert? still don’t understand that) : Cheesecake and chocolate cake.

Aaaaannd the basketball cookie dough cupcakes. They were quite a hit by everyone who partook. Feel free to comment on how awesome they were if that was you.

We ended the night by watching videos of Noah on our phone since he spent the night at Grammy’s and it had been 9 hours since we saw him last. And that my friends, was where our wild and crazy birthday celebration ended! My how things change after college? at least for us ;-)

Questions:

1. What have you done this weekend?

2. What dessert do you request on your birthday?

3. Do you use groupon?

Ben and I have discovered our favorite restaurant and froyo place using groupon… so we are big fans. As for dessert… come on… I don’t want cakes, cookies, pies, I want froyo so I can pick what I want and make it JUST FOR ME :)

We get super wild over here too!! One time my hubby went to sleep right after our baby did (8:30pm) one night. I obviously delved into the wine that night ;) haha

I never understand people who are too full for dessert. Uh, what?? They must not have the separate dessert stomach like we do!

Yum, yum, yum! All of the food looks so delicious. I love a big brownie sundae or pizookie with ice cream on my birthday. :)

That sounds fun! And we love doing things like that too- it’s always fun to try new places and new types of food!

Our last movie in a theater was in January… I made him go see Beauty and the Beast in 3D with me. I’m ashamed to say we do NOT have a kid yet, and this was just because I’m obsessed with Disney.

Actually we may have seen a movie recently that my parents took us to. Sadly, I can’t remember the actual movie- just that they served us breakfast while we watched the movie. I really liked my bagel and fruit smoothie… Monsters U! That’s what it was.

I’m clearly going to love the toddler/little kid phase one day. :)

We hung out with friends this weekend and went to Costco. Did adult things like go to a brewery and a bar, separately but in the same day.

I always request German chocolate cake from my family when we do birthday stuff. My husband and I started splitting cupcakes if it’s just us, though- since we don’t need to eat a whole cake by ourselves.

I think I’m going to suggest cheesecake next time though :)

Went on a day trip yesterday, which was a blast. On my birthday I always request cookie cake. Always, always, always. And I try to eat a funfetti cupcake. And a red velvet one.

This is making me hungry.

Haven’t used groupon in a while, but it’s a great deal when you can find a good one. Glad y’all had fun!

Yes, isn’t it amazing how things change after children! I haven’t used groupon, but it sounds like I need to try it! That’s an amazing price for five-courses for two people!

that.looks.so.good.

I’m too scared to use groupon here–there are a few restaurants in this area that refuse to redeem them, I don’t know how they get away with it.

What’s with only having four asparagus on the plate? That’s not enough!

Looks like a lovely dinner and an amazing night! My husband and I don’t make it to the movies much either, but we don’t really enjoy going to movies. I’d rather watch them in the comfort of my own home.

I am totally not as fun as I used to be in college (and I wasn’t all that fun to begin with! haha) so I think that sounds like a perfect birthday!
Those cupcakes sound amazing. Seriously.

I love GROUPON!! I am constantly checking it for new deals. In Arizona there was one for a cupcake place. We got 6 cupcakes and had a taste test for the best flavor. It was so much fun. The food all looks really yummy!!

I want a big, fancy cake for my birthday. Sometimes, I get ice cream cake, or chocolate cake, or a mousse cake. With some ice cream on the side, maybe. It’s just gotta be a full-sized cake with PLENTY of frosting (not a bunch of wimpy cupcakes, sorry, I have the thing against cupcakes)

This weekend was productive around the house, which was much needed.

I love groupon and living social, it really is nice to help you try new places and new products without spending the full price.

Cheesecake is my favorite dessert (besides ice cream) but I am the one in the family who makes cheesecake so it’s not what I ask for on my birthday–my mom always makes me pumpkin pie, one of my other favorites!

Sounds like a great night in my book! We don’t even have kids yet, and that pretty much sounds like a typical date night.

Your cupcakes look awesome!

I use Groupon every once and a while when there is something that I cannot pass up. I purchased Sounders game tickets from it last year.
