Family pictures

by Elizabeth on July 21, 2013

Yesterday I was up at 5 to squeeze in a quick run before we had our family pictures (not only did we miss our family pictures back in May, but also our trip to Cancun? If anyone wants to donate a replacement trip I won’t complain). I felt pretty bad on the run. I don’t know if I was just worn out or tired since I haven’t seen 5 am in a few months. Either way, today is a rest day!

When I got home the prep work was cut out for me.

Who am I kidding, the only thing I did was make Noah breakfast and then Daddy was on duty to get him ready. In my defense, it takes guys 0.4 seconds to get ready. I, on the other hand, am just not as speedy getting ready as I am running ;-) In fact I am really slow in pretty much all other areas of life.

It was 90 degrees and 100% humidity when we got there and we were soaked in less than 5 minutes. My plan is to just tell people when they see the pictures that Noah fell in the water trying to catch a fish with his bare hands and we had to save him.

Something important I learned yesterday. The correct order of events should be: 1. Play around on Pinterest for an hour. 2. Go to the grocery store. I did them backwards and am quite sad I have to wait a whole week for my next grocery run to make some delicious recipes.

We ended our night with a walk, dinner, and watching Identity Thief! If you’re in need of a good laugh I recommend it!

Be on the lookout for MY SISTER’S guest post coming later this week!

Questions:

1. How long does it take you to get ready?

2. Any good family picture experiences out there?

Ours are usually disastrous

3. Have you see any good movies recently?

It takes me between 30-45 min to get ready everyday. It is such a chore!

I am slow getting ready. Mostly because it’s always hot in my bathroom, so I have to rework all of my makeup and hair a couple of times. That’s what we get for living in Texas, right?

I can’t wait to see your family pictures! I’m sure they turned out beautiful :)

Have a good rest of your weekend!

It totally depends. If I need to, I can be ready in 20 minutes. Usually I take closer to 30-40 if I’m just taking my time or actually take the time to do my hair. Being a girl is hard work! :)

Last time we had family pictures was in Houston and getting my hair to cooperate in that humidity was pretty much pointless.

42 is a FANTASTIC movie! Have you seen it??

Ugh I just had the worst morning run! I am 100% a night runner.

As for family pics–my favorite was the year we tried to reschedule b/c my my bro had the flu and they said “it’s now or never”…the first few shots he turned greener and greener and then he puked. He was a much more normal color for the rest of the pictures. I bet they let the next flu family reschedule.

Family picture time is soooooo stressful! One year a pipe busted in our neighborhood and we didn’t have water when we first woke up to get ready for pictures. Luckily, it came on in the nick of time and the pictures went off as planned, but it sure was stressful!

I CAN get ready in 10 minutes (assuming I showered the night before). But usually it’s about 30-50 minutes depending on what I need to do with my mane. Oddly enough I get ready so much quicker at the Gym. Shower, get dressed, blow dry, makeup and go…maybe it’s because there are people around, I’m not sure but either way it takes me half the time at the gym as it does at home

no time. i am the lowest maintenance woman i know. my mom thinks i should do more. i.e. wear more makeup, dye my hair, skin care like crazy. but nah, i just shower quickly and put a braid in or a little spray gel and eye liner and i’m good to go. humidity is not my friend though cause i am not a fan of sweating unless i am in workout clothes. then i say bring it!

i haven’t seen any notable movies recently but i did discover a show on netlix called “new girl” that i love.

I call it beauty duty because it’s such an ordeal to get myself together! If I rush like crazy I can get from stepping in the shower to being finished in one hour. It’s the whole flat ironing my hair that takes so long! Of course I can get ready to go on a run in about two seconds! :-)

I totally fall into the Pinterest trap on a regular basis. It can be quite dangerous for the ole wallet. It takes me about 40 minutes to get ready…shower and all…if I’m really pushing it, which I don’t recommend because I’m so sweaty by the time I finish from drying my hair and rushing, I might as well not shower at all! Ha! I usually allot around an hour, just to be safe. ;-)

Glad to know Identity Theft is good. We’ve thought about renting it, but were never sure.

DEFINITELY a Pinterest play before shopping trip! I’ve got soooo many recipes I want to try this week already. I’ve been writing my shopping list as I find them!

I’ve had some great family picture moments from sessions that I thought were disastrous. If your photographer is good you’ll have some good pictures. I’m excited to see them!

Usually pinterest is a time sucker and if you did it before you went to the grocery store you’d never get there! Not that I would know, pinterest totally scares me and I steer clear of it as much as possible.

Regarding this: “I am really slow in pretty much all other areas of my life.” YES!! I can go and run 14 miles, but I walk like a 20 minute mile and take rest breaks at the mall. My husband is totally perplexed by this. Other people look at runner’s and think we’re insane, but I look at people who walk that way.
