Giveaway and an exciting week :-)

by Elizabeth on July 8, 2013

Hello, hello!

We had a relaxing, low key Sunday! Here are a few pictures from the day:

What better way to start off a Monday (and ending a four day weekend!) than with a giveaway! My friends at VFuel have graciously offered to give away TWO cartons of endurance gel (a $70.00 value) to one lucky winner.

The thing I like most about VFuel is how easy it is on my stomach. Where as most gels are made with fructose which required a special enzyme to digest, VFuel uses dextrose, the only form of sugar that doesn’t require the enzyme to digest! Therefore, you can continue to train and perform at a high level without the fear of stomach upset.

To enter:

1. Leave me a comment telling me your favorite kind of long run fuel!

2. Tweet: I want to win the giveaway!!! @myneonruninshoe @VFuelOfficial

The winner will be announced Friday morning. GOOD LUCK!!!

A few exciting things are happening this week? my sister in law was induced LAST NIGHT at 7 so we are expecting to have a new baby in the family today or tomorrow! Boy or girl, what will it be??? Wednesday is our three year wedding anniversary so we have a fun date planned to our (my) favorite restaurant! I also am looking at acupuncture and volunteering with a new organization. More info to come :-) And I have a honeymoon recap post coming one day this week since I’ve never don’t one!

Have a fabulous Monday!!!

My favorite long run fuel to date is m&ms! They gave us some at the last half marathon I did. Probably not technically the *best* to have while running, but they sure were the yummiest! :)

I love lazy Sundays too! Although they make work the next day a little harder… :)

So far I have stuck to gummy candies for my longer runs (bears and sharks are my current favs). I’ve always been nervous about gels but like that this one claims to be easy on the stomach!

I love shot blocks some candies. Like hard fish ones that taste like the colour they are (orange = orange, yellow = banana, etc! haha)

My favorite long run fuel… I use Gu a lot, but at one point I had a nutter butter cookie during a run and it was delicious. I don’t know if it was a good fuel health wise, probably not, but it really made me happy during that 20 miler!

Right now, my fave long run fuel is Clif ShotBlocks — but, they are a little putzy and I’d like to get used to something more efficient for marathon running. I’ve been dying to try VFuel because I’ve heard such great things!!

I have never had to fuel for runs. Have just been doing 5K, but just signed up for a 1/2 marathon training group so would love to have some to try for that.

Well, so far I’ve just gone the candy route (sweedish fish, jelly beans) but I’m starting to go longer distances so I really should use some “real” fuel. I tried a vanilla Gu which was okay, but I definitely want to experiment

Hmmmm Ive never really run far (fast) enough to need fuel. I guess I would go with cold oatmeal, though. Since I sometimes bring that along…weird I know. As I train for my first marathon though I will be needing great fuel! Once this sudden plantar fasciitis heals.

I’ve never run far enough to need fuel, but this fall I’m training for a half and this would be great!

My favorite long run fuel is gels but they do sometimes upset my stomach. During my first (and only, so far) marathon I totally craved a diet coke. Got one after the race and it tasted amazing! Lol
