June 29? I will never forget you.

by Elizabeth on June 29, 2013

Two years ago today I was on my way into ERC. I had no idea what I was in for but that place saved my life and looking back, it was one of the best things I ever did for myself and my family!

I am so grateful for where I am today (thanks to God, my treatment team here, my husband, family, and friends!) so I am intentionally soaking up everything about today and enjoying the heck out of it :-)

On to happier things? Noah had his first music lesson yesterday at his Grammy’s house. Taught by his 5 year old neighbor Zoe so you know it was good.

Piano and xylophone. We like to make sure he’s well rounded.

Zoe knew how to do handstands and forward rolls so we afterwards we went outside and practiced.

They had an awesome time together.

The best part (sorry mom) about coming to Willis is that we have to pass my favorite bakery in the world? LINDY’S!!! She made our wedding cake and she always has incredible cake balls. I also pre ordered an anniversary cake for us. Some may call that overdoing it. I like to look at it as staying on top of things/being prepared/genius.

I hope you have an AMAZING Saturday!!! Thank you to everyone for your love and support :-)

Questions:

1. What are your plans today??

2. What is the weather like where you live?

3. What flavor wedding cake did you have?

4. Do you play any musical instruments?

I’m feeling particularly nosey today. Go.

I am going to an amusement park today with some friends. We made some really tacky, fake family reunion shirts to all wear that say “We are elated to be related”. Should be a fun day :)

It’s going to be 100 today. Soooo….I’ll be drinking lots of water!!

Those cake balls look AMAZING!!

First- I’ve been down that road myself, and I know how challenging and heart breaking it can be- but how rewarding the journey is and how insanely happy I feel looking back and seeing how far I’ve come! Never perfect, but definitely much better than before :)

Plans- Finished a 7 mile run with my husband. Pool day with friends later!

Our wedding cake was 3 tiers and different flavored pound cake in each tier! We usually aren’t “cake people”, but these pound cakes are AMAZING! It was normal pound cake with strawberry filling, almond pound cake with raspberry filling and amaretto pound cake with peach filling! And you aren’t overdoing it- the second I get a chance, I’m going to pre-order our anniversary cake too. And it’s not until April of next year… But I want it to be a surprise! Not to mention we didn’t actually get to try any of the cake on our wedding day since it was so busy! (Aside from the cake cutting of course).

I used to play the violin, but I sucked. No more instruments for me!

1. I have no plans today. It’s so nice!
2. The weather is sunny sunny but hot! I love it.
3. I have never been to a wedding before. So sad. But I love funfetti cake. I would imagine there are lots of weddings with funfetti cake.
4. I used to play piano but I was horrible. Zero musical talent.
Have a wonderful weekend!!

I ran ten miles with my running group this morning, and soon I’m going to train two clients. Then I’m chilling with my family!

I played the clarinet in 5th and 6th grade. At the end of 6th grade, my band teacher suggested that I go out for sports instead of playing an instrument! I was that bad! I’m so glad that he said that because I went out for the track team the next year, and a million years later I’m still running!

Our wedding cake was white with white icing… my favorite! We had a chocolate cake with chocolate icing for the groom’s cake, my hubby’s favorite!

Today is my rest day (YAY!)
The weather is warm today, most SF has a very cool summer in comparison to every where else.
Not married yet, but I would want a chocolate cake ;-)
I used to play guitar.

Ps- Thank you for being so open on your blog and sharing your experiences. You are a brave, strong woman and I so appreciate hearing your story! I have never been very open about my struggles but your honesty makes it a little bit easier. THANK YOU!

Four miles for me today, and the weather is hot, but not as bad as it has been. I found a trail that I like, so I’ve been running on that for longer runs (which 4 miles is for me). I will have a red velvet wedding cake, hands down, no question about it. And those cake balls look delicious. Have a good weekend, and I second what Hali said – plus congratulations on two years.

Noah and Zoe are too cute! So glad you are raising such a well rounded son. His future wife will be one lucky lady.

It is HOT and MUGGY in Alabama. Gross. Our wedding cake was a white cake with strawberry filling. It was to DIE for. I usually a chocolate girl all the way, but this white cake easily beat out the chocolate grooms cake. And…I can’t play an instrument to save my life.

How special to look back on where you’ve been and see how far you’ve come. I know you are so proud and so thankful.

The weather in Arizona is 115+ way hot in my opinion.
I love red velvet cake. I think it makes a great wedding cake flavor!
I wish I was musically talented, but I cam definitely challenged in that department. I wish I could play piano, when I have kids I thought about taking Piano lessons with them if they want to learn.

Unpacking and relaxing on the agenda for today after a longggg drive home from vacation yesterday!

It’s super hot here (although not nearly as hot as it is for you – it’s all relative!)… should be fun for my long run tomorrow.

I honestly can’t remember my wedding cake flavor… I was too busy to eat it, and we had to change bakers at the last second after hurricane Sandy took out our bakery!

I played the oboe for a while in high school!

noah is getting cuter and cuter every post!

our wedding cake was carrot cake from Costco. we do it classy around here. but seriously we had a simple reception. we were married in the most beautiful place in town and then focused on the Hawaiian honeymoon! resources spent wisely;)

and we just celebrated our 10 year anniversary Friday. makes me feel old.
