A killer recipe

by Elizabeth on June 28, 2013

So remember yesterday when I told you I choose my friends based on their ability to choose desserts? I was talking to my friend Brooke yesterday and she told me about a new dessert she had been making at night.

Brace yourselves. Who else remembers in grade school when you pulled apart Oreos in order to predict who you liked/would marry? It takes skill to get all the frosting on one side…

This new recipe might be in my top three favorite desserts ever? I give you the Oreo cookie dough sandwich. It’s totally acceptable to eat this in place of your normal sandwich at lunch today. I made one for me and one for Joe. But then I ate them both. Joe is learning about these at the same time you are today :-)

My other meals paled in comparison to this (normal grilled cheese ((and a cake ball!)) for lunch and leftover pasta for dinner.

Today we are headed to spend some time with my parents! They celebrated their 27th anniversary yesterday!

Have you ever created your own dessert recipe?

How long have you/your parents been married? What’s your anniversary?

July 10th will be 3 years for us!

YUM! I am surprised no one thought to put cookie dough in between oreos!!! I am not much of a recipe creator…but I will change recipes to suite me.
I have been married for 12 years and our 13th anniversary is Sept 29th.

That looks delicious! I’m great at tweaking recipes to make them my own, but I get most of my inspiration from other people.

It was 6 years for us on May 26th and my parents have been married for 27.

I’ve never been adventurous enough to make my own dessert recipe! I don’t want to mess up delicious goodness.

I’m not married, but my parents just had their anniversary a few days ago, and they’ve been married for 29 years!

YUM! I till have to try that! I don’t really “create” my own desserts… I usually just add chocolate or icecream to existing recipes and pretend I’m really creative and made it up. :)

My parents have been married 26 years! My husband’s parents just celebrated their 30 year anniversary this month! We had a huge family vacation (15 people!) at the beach to celebrate :)

My husband and I have officially been married for 2 whole months now! I know, time for a celebration :) But for real, it might be an excuse for a cupcake… ;)

My parents have been married for 13 years now (it was both of their second marriages. my mom was widowed and my dad adopted us kids after they were married). They are awesome.

I love blending two dessert recipes together to make a new dessert, or switching the cream filling in something with a different kind!

August 1 for my hubby and me!

Yay my recipe is a winner!! I forgot to tell ya what me and Mitch call them… Oreo Doughlicious sammies! And when we are feeling really lazy we only have Doughlicious (cookie dough squares heated in the micro for 11 seconds ha) We are hardcore bakers over here in the Bible Household! Yay for almost 3 years!! It’s my moms first anniversary July 6th! The Brady Bunch will definitely be celebrating with lots of desserts!

I don’t mean to be rude, but you mentioned last week that you are currently struggling with your eating disorder and the need to control. I have dealt with the same issues, but you mention dessert foods in almost every post. It just seems a little odd surrounding yourself/making/buying sweets all the time. I definitely have a sweet tooth as well and never cut that part out of my life, but I’m a little confused as to how you are struggling with control…

Ann,
I appreciate your openness and honesty! In my post about control my main point was that oftentimes in general eating disorders can be a way to have a false sense of control over your environment. I’m not perfect by any means but I feel like I have come a long way in letting this go, developing a different relationship with control, and being more flexible! That being said, even at my worst dessert wasn’t something I struggled with. Actually, it’s a fairly common eating disorder dynamic to allow yourself to have sweets but restrict in other areas. My challenge has been incorporating all foods in in moderation (again, I know I tend to overdo it on the sweets but I’m ok with that since they are what I enjoy.) Thanks for your comment! Have a wonderful weekend.

Oh man…cookie dough is the bomb.com. But inside an oreo?! Amazing! My sister is staying with us for the weekend and she’s a major cookie dough lover. I just may have to introduce this to her. She’ll love me forever!

Those oreo sandwiches look AMAZING! I created my own ice cream cake recipe and am in love! Now I dont have to go to Dairy Queen to get one. Plus it’s fun to play around with the different flavors of ice cream in them.
