Brass knuckles, spurs, and sweet chili mahi mahi.

by Elizabeth on June 24, 2013

If you have kids under the age of 5 you should live in Katy, TX. There is a new park every quarter of a mile (not exaggerating) so we still have about 497 to try before we have to repeat one? It makes me so happy to see these two playing together.

No walk to the park would be complete without cookies and milk. And Elmo.

We went for a short run, to church, hit up the grocery store (NEVER again will I go to HEB on a Sunday unless I bring my brass knuckles and spurs. kidding. sort of) then hung out by the pool. Joe grilled sweet chili mahi mahi and I made a beet and carrot salad. He’s becoming quite the grill master so I think I’ll just sit back and let him cook all of our meals from now on ;-)

You know I don’t end my day without chocolate. Ever. Stop judging.

It was awesome to have a low key weekend! Can you believe it’s the last week of JUNE already?

What’s your favorite part about Sundays?

Who does most of the cooking in your house?

Do you tend to run less in the summer and cross train more?

I NEVER go to the grocery store in Sundays… it’s always a zoo! I love the winding down that comes with Sundays. Settling down from a week of non-stop activities and gearing up for the next week is super nice. I live alone…so I do all the cooking or I wouldn’t eat. I’ve been running a lot this summer, but I have to get up before the sun to do it because FL is so dang hot that I will die if I waste any time. I definitely think I run more when it’s cooler out, though.

So cute!
Haha men should always be the grill masters. I just fail at attempting to grill anything.
No judgement here – I agree most days call for chocolate.
Since I’m not a runner, I’d definitely say I cross train more;) Spinning for me!

I would only judge you if you -didn’t- eat chocolate ;) And I flat out refuse to go grocery shopping on the weekends. I’ll go late Friday night if I’m running low on something, but there’s no way I’m dealing with the crazy crowds. I went to Costco on Saturday morning once, and I think it scarred me for life…

The grocery store is also a madhouse on Saturdays. I try to go during the week at night. It always seems to be pretty tame then. Best part about Sunday is Sunday lunch. I love getting to share that time with my family when I’m home. Now that I live so far away from them, Sunday lunch usually consists of sitting on the couch with my food and watching TV, but I definitely miss those nice lunches.

Keep on eating that chocolate, just send me some too, okay? I HATE Sunday grocery shopping. I live in a fairly small town so it doesn’t get too crazy, but still… I definitely have to throw some elbows and well-placed shin kicks to get people out of my way ;).

I love Elmo. He was my favorite when I was a kid. Also I totally remember back in high school going to HEB right after church on Sundays… Such a bad idea. Haha. Sometimes a quick 30 minute trip would talk over 90 minutes because everyone in town is there and you end up talking to everyone and the ice cream in your cart gets melted. :)

What?s your favorite part about Sundays? Being lazy! my husband and I lounge around. We have complete opposite work schedules, so I only see him a few hours a day during the work week, and Saturdays are always jam packed. Sunday is our day to unwind :)

Who does most of the cooking in your house? I do. Adam is a great cook, but he doesn’t get home until 7:30-8 pm during the week- so cooking is usually up to me! Weekends we cook together- we enjoy that :)

Do you tend to run less in the summer and cross train more?
I should- especially because of the heat and humidity in Georgia! But I think spring, summer and fall are gorgeous and I love running outside. So I actually run more, corss train less.

YuM! I am so guilty of not cooking anymore. Aaron does it all. hehe

I wish we had an HEB near me but the closest one is a good 30 minute drive. I love the store but not THAT much!!!

I don’t think it should be legal to end your day without some form of chocolate. Favorite part of Sunday is spending it with family and i think i train about the same any time of the year, runs just tend to be early in the morning or late at night if they’re outside. I don’t do well with heat.

No judging on my end! I personally love a day that ends in chocolate! :0) (Especially if its yummy chocolate!) Glad you guys have so many parks to explore! So much fun!!

as much as I love working out, I love sundays because it is my day of rest. after going hard all week I need that day to recoup. beets and carrots = YUM!

13 Debbie @ Deb Runs... June 24, 2013 at 12:25 pm

We have Wegman’s in our area and believe me, you do not want to shop there on Sundays unless you are loaded with said brass knuckles and spurs!

I do almost all of the cooking unless we are grilling, then my hubby grills. Yay! And to answer your other question, I run, cross train, and lift about the same amount of time year round…

I don’t judge one bit when it comes to chocolate. ;)

My favorite part about Sundays is church and just being able to relax!

I am so jealous of all your parks!!!!! I am horrible at cross training!

I try to avoid the store on Saturdays because THAT is when I will be getting road rage in the store. I love Sundays because that’s usually the only day I take a nap :)

I am jealous of your chocolate. No judgement at all!

That is the sweetest picture of him with the cookie and Elmo! I live in SLC so I only shop on Sundays, no one is there!

Jealous of all the playgrounds around you guys! Wish we had that many to choose from. I do majority of the cooking in our household, but during the summer weekends my hubby does the grilling (I do some of it). My favorite part about Sundays are my long runs I do in the morning. I love seeing how far I can push myself! It is also my “ME” time :) This summer is different because I am actually running more than most summers due to a full marathon I am training for in October!
