Five Things Friday- 1.17.14

by Elizabeth on January 17, 2014

Happy Friday!!! I’m super excited Friday is finally here and we get to have a fun filled family weekend. More on that later… And just as a heads up I have a super cool giveaway coming on Monday and I can’t wait to share it with you. Today I’m linking up with Clare for another edition of Five Things Friday. I could probably write several more than five things since I took a few days off but I’ll try to contain myself ;-) Let’s get to it shall we?!
1. I’m all for eating healthy/balanced/moderate, but even I wouldn’t eat this cereal plain… Just look at those ingredients haha! So what did I do yesterday with the entire box I’ve had sitting around for a while? I added every other thing in my pantry that could remotely be considered trail mix material to this gallon bag. It came out really awesome! And I’m still getting the good stuff… Win, win!

2. The maternity clothes I ordered on clearance from Gap came in yesterday! It feels good to have stuff that fits well other than Joe’s giant t-shirts. I’m slightly obsessed with the
neon colors. Expect to see the same three shirts a billion times before May is over…

3. Two things. Yoga and body pump. Since starting last week I’m basically in love with these group exercise classes at the YMCA! Especially yoga! Why did it take me so long to start?? I think I love it so much because it is extremely physically and mentally challenging for me but I know it’s low impact and low calorie-burning. Add in the fact that there is a spiritual component and I’m hooked. I can see myself becoming very into it quickly!
4. Perfect Texas weather = lots of park time. We even made some new friends and are meeting up again next week!

5. I received some healthy bites from my blogger friend Lindsay to try and it actually inspired me to make my own version yesterday (along with the gallon of trail mix.) Hers are WAY better than mine so if you’ve been wanting to try them I can’t say enough good things about them. I’m not gluten free but they were seriously so yummy! I really liked the lemon blueberry variety which surprised me since I’m normally a chocolate lover through and through. My only regret is eating them too quickly!

Have you ever tried healthy bites? What’s your snack of choice lately?

I’ve made my own version of healthy bites before and they were a big hit. I haven’t made them in awhile so maybe that is a good project for the kids and I today!

I need to go to classes at the Y more often as well. My kids go do dance and gymnastics there and since I have a treadmill at home that is all we use the Y for right now. I need to look at their class schedule.

whenever i go grocery shopping, I always feel really motivated and tell myself today is the day I start eating better. Those supergrains are exactly something I would buy spur of the moment and then never touch them when I am actually home, haha!

My go-to snack lately (which I’ve consumed enormous amounts of) has been tortillas with butter and salt. <– my snack sounds like *I'M* the one that's pregnant! haha. I've increased my mileage lately so maybe my body is craving carbs and salt? Either way, your snacks amazing too and probably more nutritious. :)

I’m not a huge snacker but if I had chex mix or something like that at home, there would be huge trouble. I used to eat giant 2lb bags of that every week but now I’m more of a 3 big meals person, it helps me eat better which is basically the opposite of what most people experience I’ve learned.

I’ve never tried healthy bites, this is actually my first time hearing about them ha. I will have to check them out. My snack of choice lately has been bananas, so good! Oh and bubble gum? if that’s considered a “snack” haha

Wow. That cereal looks rough. lol. I’d have to add some fruit and nut butter (and probably coconut) to eat it too!

My favorite snack recently are cinnamon sugar almonds from Trader Joes or Triscuits and swiss cheese.
