Ring finger pop and homemade cream cheese frosting.

by Elizabeth on February 7, 2013

It was hard to wake up yesterday. For some reason an early alarm + knowing you are doing a workout = almost impossible to get out of bed. Add to the fact that when I looked out the front door it was raining and I heavily considered going back to bed. I knew I wasn’t going to take Noah out in the rain though so I did a 2.5 mile warm up, 4 mile tempo, and 2.5 mile cool down. When I got home I fell asleep again for 30 minutes before Noah woke up so that was nice! I had a protein shake that looked exactly like this when we woke up.

We went for morning coffee at McDonalds with these fine folks. I am advocating healthy living and yet the cashier knows my name, my baby’s name, and what I order. Is something wrong with this picture? Noah likes the Playplace… what can I say? You are going to be so sick of my Valentine’s pictures by next week you aren’t even going to want to celebrate it anymore. My apologies.

Kisses and holding hands. Kids really are growing up too fast these days.

Lunch looked like this. A giant salad with every vegetable in my refrigerator plus pulled pork added after the picture.

After my afternoon nap, a little something like this went down. It’s a good thing I buy nail polish on a regular basis so I have options for the three times a year I paint my nails.

This is called the ring finger pop. Apparently all the cool kids do it (i.e. me).

Dinner was not overly exciting… but I will never get tired of paninis.

For day 6 of the 14 day challenge, I made red velvet cookies with homemade pink cream cheese frosting. This little guy had more than his share… He was begging like a puppy. Sorry the picture is blurry, too. I had to crop out all the junk on my floor.

If you follow me on instagram, you already know Joe’s romantic inappropriate reaction to the message I included.

This might be the best frosting I have ever had (good thing I multiplied the recipe by 3). Why have I never made this before!? Poll: should I make it every day for the next year to make up for lost time? Yes or yes.

I added two laughing cow cinnamon cream cheeses to make it even better and Joe and I sat at the table eating it with a spatula (maybe it was just me… I don’t know I blacked out.)

I hope you’re having an AWESOME THURSDAY!!!

Questions:

Do you paint your nails often or just buy a ton of nail polish like me?

Have you ever made frosting? How did it turn out?

I have a ton of polish too but almost never paint my nails! Love that line up you have – perfect way to spend naptime! Nice work going running despite being early and the bad weather. And yum frosting. love it.

Your nails are awesomely festive and your ring is beautiful!

That panini looks so good too. I was devastated the day my panini press broke.

Your little Noah is too cute! I love your nails! I go in phases with my nails… I’ll paint them religiously for a couple months and then they’ll be bare for months at a time. I’m currently in the naked nail phase. :)

I only have 1 nail polish color. and I rarely paint my nails. I’m thinking about changing this sometime soon though! Painted nails just make us girls happy:-)

Cream creese frosting is THE BEST. I could eat it out of the bowl. Especially when it’s chilled. I make it all the time and it has to be homemade. It’s the only way to go!

I think it’s so funny that you go to McDonalds and don’t care who knows it! I have actually heard that their coffee is good!

Is it still dark when you run early in the morning? I can’t run outside before this work @ this time of year because the sun doesn’t come up until after 6:30 or so – I’m too nervous to go in the dark. :(

Yes it is! The neighborhood I live in is lit and pretty safe, I bring my phone, and run with a buddy!

Painting my nails is one of my self care moves. I can always count on it to give me a little self esteem boost. The downside is when they are starting to chip or are unpainted, I get a little self conscious.
Wow, I can’t believe that’s Noah! It just hit me. He is such a cutie!

I actually think the fact that you balance healthy living with McDonald’s is perfect. We need a decent amount of both sides in life :) And I have a HUGE nail polish collection that I just keep adding to, but more often than not, my nails are naked. I just hate having to put so much work into them and then having them chip on the same day.

Ummm red velvet cookies? YUM. I never paint my nails either because I chip them 15 seconds later but they look good while they last (for those 15 seconds…)

I paint my toes often! Not my finger nails because my nails always break/chip and I just look gross.

I have made my own frosting before, both butter cream and cream cheese. Both turned out PHENOMENAL! P.S. Laughing Cow cinnamon cheese wedges? How have I NEVER seen them before!? Where do you buy them!?

They are at every grocery store here… HEB, Walmart, Kroger. I’m not sure what stores are in your area but they are usually not with the savory laughing cow cheeses. They’re normally by cookie dough and cinnamon rolls (I guess the sweet breakfast refrigeratables?) They also have a regular and strawberry flavor!

I always make my own buttercream frosting – it is SO much tastier and better for you than the store bought variety! Love the cookies, my husband would make the same type of comment as well! :)

I buy a TON of nail polish but I never end up using it! I guess it’s my secret hoarding obsession haha
