Who wants to win some Halloween money?

by Elizabeth on October 31, 2013

Happy Halloween, friends! I hope your day is filled with more candy than you typically consume in an entire year ;-) As a kid, this holiday ranked right up there with Christmas for me. We trick-or-treated with pillow cases until I was 17 and once I became a runner my best friend and I ran from house to house to maximize doorbell ringing, candy collecting minutes. Then when we got home we would come home and organize our candy by types. I’m not even joking. This was serious business.

I’m thinking one isn’t too young to start training this one to do the same…

Yesterday they had Halloween parties and costume day at his school. He made his own trick-or-treating bag (I had to laugh… all the other kids’ bags had smiles and there’s Noah’s. Kid’s got attitude.) I think he was sad this bag won’t be big enough for the amount of trick-or-treating he plans to do.

Halloween eve was celebrated right in our household. We started with four cheese pizza. I decided to add alfredo sauce and more mixed cheese because four cheeses is never enough for anyone.

We made some pumpkin sugar cookies…

And then Joe and I carved pumpkins. Noah decorated his with Sesame Street stickers. Joes:

I will give anyone who can identify the following character $1 (no mom, you can’t win). Don’t all jump at once.

If you guessed Daniel Tiger (from the PBS show Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, Noah’s one true love) you are correct.

Have an awesome Halloween!

Questions:

1. What’s your favorite Halloween candy?

2. Are you/your kids dressing up tonight? What will you be?

I love your story about your trick or treating! Gotta maximize candy time!

I cannot possibly pick a favorite candy, please don’t make me! I’ll be wearing my costume that I wore in our race on Sunday – Robin (of Batman and Robin). You can see the pic of it in my last post. :D

Reese’s PB cups are my absolute fave! I would sort my candies and trade them with my brother. Then eat it way too quickly!

Oh I used to do the same at Halloween! The sirens buzzed at 8 that it was over, and the party was just getting started with my friends at my house! We had lots of sorting and trading to do ;)

 I remember taking candy sorting and trading VERY seriously as a little kid. My favourite were always Twix, KitKats, and Skittles. The worst? That strange taffy and Tootsie Rolls. Ugh.

M&Ms are by far my favorite. Although Reese’s are right up there too. I used to organize my candy by type too!! And then proceed to put the candy I didn’t like into our candy bowl and replace it with the kinds I did like from our bowl. I was a greedy candy hog :) Happy Halloween!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

I have some orange-and-black striped tights on with a black dress. I also brought in candy bars for my advisees to trick or treat :] I love Halloween!

I, too, always organized my candy by type. Mounds bars and Almond Joys were always good… so, too, are Reeses cups. The best, though, was our neighbor’s homemade caramel corn. YUMMMM!

My favorite Halloween candy is definitely a reeses cup or Bottle Caps. I love those things! I’m going to be wearing devil ears with some makeup to answer my brother’s door. I CANNOT wait. And there was always a serious art of trick-or-treating for me and my friends. It’s all about making it to as many places as possible!

Mad props to you for carving pumpkin boldness – I always just do a face. Sometimes happy, sometimes scary! ;) You already know that Luke is going to be Tigger – he wore his costume last night during dinner and wanted to put it on first thing this morning – not sure what I am going to do tomorrow when he wants to wear it again. . . #momproblems

I had a KitKat recently at the church Harvest Festival (in what seemed like years). I forgot how good it is… so KitKats are my current favorite candy.

We used pillow cases while trick or treating too. I was just talking to my husband about that and he was so shocked that we would get so much candy. He grew up in the country where the houses were much farther apart so there wasn’t as much candy getting as he would have liked.
