Treat Yourself Tuesday #1

Last week, Becky from Olives ‘n Wine started a series called Treat Yourself Tuesday.  Since I have a passion for self care (and traveled halfway across the country to give a presentation on it over the weekend) I knew the minute I read about it that I wanted to participate! So here it is… my first Treat Yourself Tuesday!

Here are several of the ways I feel I spoiled myself over the past week :-)

1. I never mentioned it on the blog, but Joe and I had a date night last week at the classiest restaurant in town. Dairy Queen! Hey, don’t judge… blizzards have a special place in my soul. I always get caramel with cookie dough unless the flavor of the month is brownie batter (weirdly enough it completely grossed me out when I was pregnant with Noah).

2. The weekend was a HUGE treat being able to travel to a new place, stay in a beautiful hotel, meet amazing women, and learn more about the things we love!

3. This run along the Mississippi. Running in itself is a treat right now! Add beautiful scenery and perfect weather and it was incredible.

4. I didn’t get back until after midnight on Sunday night. When I came in Joe woke up, got out of bed and gave me a huge hug, and told me how happy he was I was home. The real treat was this however and I definitely consumed it at 1 am… Just kidding Joe, you were definitely the better treat ;-)

German Chocolate Cupcake

I find that I’m a much better wife, mom, friend, and person in general when I consciously do things for ME! I can’t take care of others when I neglect caring for myself. Make an effort to do something for YOU today :-)

Questions:

1. If you could have one indulgence for free every week for the rest of your life what would you choose?

2. Am I the only one who eats cupcakes at 1 am?

I would probably choose pizza and dessert trifle! I could eat both of those dishes over and over and never get sick of them!

Haha…nope you aren’t! Cupcakes are awesome (says the girl who works at a cupcake bakery…)! And is that a german chocolate cupcake? It looks really good!

I love this idea for a new series! Your panel on Saturday was so great – I loved it because it didn’t just have to do with blogging but also just with life in general.

A free treat…hmm…does a shopping spree count? Haha. I wouldn’t mind a piece (or two or three) of cake from my favorite bakery back home. Mmmmm, now I’m hungry!

I really want to go to DQ. I discovered one about 15 minutes away and my roommate doesn’t want to go. I may have to go alone- I’m that tempted. Caramel and cookie dough actually sounds like the best combination I’ve ever heard of!

Ice cream would be a free indulgence no matter what. I could love on it. I would eat a cupcake at 1 am. There’s no shame when the craving hits :) Why not? :D

Oh, so many indulgences to choose from! I think I’d get a massage every week. It would be relaxing and pampering, but I could also spin it that I was getting it for the health benefits! ;-)

This weekend was definitely a huge treat – I’m still sad that it’s all over! And I couldn’t agree more that being good to ourselves helps us be better for others. I’ve noticed a huge improvement in my interactions with others ever since I started taking better care of myself.

I love this!! Thanks for sharing. I think right now I would go witha couples massage every week. We did it once for an anniversary and it was soo relaxing.

We have a bakery near us called Borrelli’s. They make this pinwheel type cake that is AMAZING! I would definitely have that every week! If we’re not doing strictly food, I’d probably like to get a free massage every week. I’ve never had one because they cost too much, but I imagine I’d love it! LOL

1am. 3am. 10pm. Cupcakes are awesome anytime. Do it!

I’m usually fast asleep by 1:00 am! Haha, but perhaps on vacation, I’ll have some kind of snack at that time.
If I could dive into something indulging once per week, it would have to be bread pudding!

That cupcake and Dairy Queen! Now I’m reallllyyy craving sugar and it is only Day 2 of my no-processed sugar cleanse. *sigh* It was so nice to meet you this weekend, even though we didn’t get to chat a whole lot. Thanks for linking up – I love all of your treats over the past week :)

Okay so a bunch of people pick ice cream as a once a week indulgence…actually makes me feel bad because I usually have a bowl practically every night! :)
I actually don’t know what I would pick as a weekly indulgence….it would probably change depending on my mood :)
