Digging through the pantry.

by Elizabeth on August 28, 2013

Thank you all so much for your support on both Monday and Tuesday’s posts! I definitely plan on emailing some of you who have been in this spot before and taking the great yoga advice I was given. Again, THANK YOU!

Today I have another acupuncture session and I had a ton of questions last week about how it went. I plan on doing a recap tomorrow so if that interests you make sure you check it out!

I haven’t done too much recipe experimenting this week (because I REALLY need to go to the store) but I did find some stuff from my Foodie Penpal in the pantry I hadn’t used so tried that last night and I really enjoyed it.

This stuff came from Williams Sonoma and that chili jam? YUM! The green lentils and pecan rice weren’t bad either. I cooked them for 45 minutes and just added the chili jam on top. Cheese, sour cream, and the sun dried tomatoes were also thrown into the mix :-)

With all the seriousness happening here the past two days I hadn’t even shared my latest Sprinkle’s picks. Saturday we stopped there after going to see Daniel Tiger at the Children’s Museum. I opted to try s’mores and vanilla with milk chocolate frosting. The s’mores one had a marshmallow frosting, a graham cracker bottom, and a chunk of dark chocolate in the middle. I think you s’mores lovers out there would approve! As for me, I’m (impatiently) waiting for them to bring back salted caramel.

Unfortunately the flavor of next month is maple bacon? I might have to try it just to say I did.

1. Have you every had anything maple bacon flavored?

2. Choose one to have right now: ice cream sundae with your favorite toppings, cake with extra frosting, warm chocolate chip cookie, or chips.

I’ve had maple bacon donut bar and I found it completely overrated. Bacon has overstepped it’s boundaries in the food of America big time.

Can I choose cake with ice cream toppings? I really just want chocolate cake with caramel sauce.

I want that s’mores cupcake!

I had a maple bacon cupcake once. My school dining services made mini ones for weekend brunch once. Uh… I don’t like bacon.

And I’ll take cake with extra frosting! I love cake, and the frosting’s the best part :P

I’ve never heard of pecan rice before, that sounds super tasty.
I’m not a big bacon fan, so I’ve never tried anything maple bacon, maybe one day.
I’m not counting on it though.
I’d go with ice cream and toppings all the way!

Chips. I almost ALWAYS choose salty over sweet.

And I love bacon, but I don’t think I could get down with eating it in a cupcake.

There is so much delicious in this post! Pecan rice sounds heavenly and cupcakes are always drool worthy. Don’t write off the maple bacon flavor so easily! I have had quite a few bacon desserts in my day and all of them were out of this world good!

i also had a maple-bacon doughnut, but i LOOOOOVED it. i am the girl who will pour maple syrup all over my bacon when we have pancakes, though, so take that as you will…

i’ll just take the frosting from the top of the cake, thankyouverymuch!

Warm chocolate chip cookies!!! Hmmm, maple bacon flavored… I love when my maple syrup runs on my bacon when I’m eating pancakes, but I don’t think I’d like a cupcake in that flavor. I think it would be worth trying just for the heck of it, though.

I am so jealous that you have a sprinkles close by – all the flavors just make me drool – even the maple bacon. I love the combo of salty and sweet so I think that might be good.. . you will have to check it out and report back!! And I will always choose cake!! Especially cupcakes. ;)

ugh. I’m all about having a piece of bacon and having it touch my syrup accidentally, but I don’t think anything should be flavored that way on purpose. I think I’m the only American that doesn’t understand the bacon obsession going on haha
The cookie sounded the best! Yum!!

Ice cream! I am definitely an ice cream girl. I’ve never been big on cake, but after seeing all these delicious looking cupcakes you post about, it’s sounding pretty good right now!

That smores cupcake looks delicious! I had a bar of smores chocolate over the weekend that was amazing.

Maple bacon combinations are amazing! I had some maple bacon ice cream in Asheville and it was great!

I’ve never had anything maple bacon, but heard good things. And I mean, come on…you can’t go wrong with bacon.

I’m generally a more salty person, so generally I crave chips, but if given a choice of those sweet options, I’d go with cake w/ lots of frosting!

Cake with extra frosting!! Seriously, I’ve been thinking about the cupcakes we will be having at my sister’s wedding all week.

Once, Curtis and I popped into a little bakery and he got a maple bacon donut. He loved it but it seems a little too weird for me. I think it was seeing the strips of bacon? I did once have a burger called Hunka Hunka Burnin’ Love that had bananas, peanut butter, and bacon which was DELICIOUS!! The peanut butter got all warm and gooey. Yum!!
